Favorite Plugins and Extensions

Plugins and extensions are small pieces of software that can add new features or tweak current features of your software. There are so many plugins and extensions out there though, so how do you know which ones to use?

Here’s a list of plugins and extensions that I’ve found most useful to me:

Web Developer Toolbar
Application: Firefox

This adds a very useful toolbar to your Firefox browser. It has options to validate CSS and XHTML, outline elements on a webpage, display class and ID details, and so much more. A definite must for you web designers out there.

CSS Viewer
Application: Firefox

This is a handy little tool for viewing CSS properties on a webpage. Just click to enable and then hover any area of the webpage and it will provide the CSS details.

MeasureIt
Application: Firefox

Use this tool to measure the width and height of anything on a webpage.

Firebug
Application: Firefox

Firebug integrates with Firefox to put a wealth of development tools at your fingertips while you browse. You can edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and JavaScript live in any web page.

Lorem Ipsum Generator
Application: Dreamweaver

Use lorem ipsum text to fill up your webpage with filler text for testing purposes or mocking up webpages with fake content. Quick and easy extension to use.

TagStention
Application: Dreamweaver

With this extension, a toolbar is added in Dreamweaver which you can use for inserting WordPress template tags into your theme files. If a tag has parameters, you’ll be asked to fill in a wizard.
