Learn how to distort text and have it take on a certain shape, a shape that you can define.
STEP ONE
Using the Type tool, type out some text.

STEP TWO
Using the Pen Tool, draw a jaggedy path around the text you just typed.

STEP THREE
Select both the text and the jaggedy path and then go to Object > Envelope Distort > Make with Top Object.

Your text will take on the form of your jaggedy path! Enjoy!

Thanks! Really useful and easy to follow for a beginner like me. One question: After you’ve set up the envelope over the text, is there still a way to edit the individual text letters? I have a wonderful wavy line with text but the “m” is too warped. Is there a way to fix that or do I need to undo the envelope?
